Tom Coler Broker/OwnerA graduate of Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service and the Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management, Tom Coler has a corporate, government and entrepreneurial background.
He held executive positions with Texaco in the Caribbean and on the Ivory Coast and IBM in Washington D.C., and was the Chief of Staff for a United States Congressman. Later, as Executive Director of the National Fisheries Institute in Washington, D.C., he represented the United States seafood industry during the chaotic days of federal wage and price controls, the Cost of Living Council, and the Federal Energy Administration’s control of oil and gas allocation and pricing. During this time, he also served as a U.S. delegate to the United Nations Law of the Sea Conference in Caracas, Venezuela, and Geneva, Switzerland.
Tom is a past member of IBM’s “100% Club” and is listed in “Outstanding Young Men
of America,” “Who’s Who in American Government” and “Who’s Who in American Politics.”
As owner of the Buyer’s Broker of Southwest Florida and a licensed Florida real estate law instructor, Tom was an early advocate for buyer representation in Florida and has introduced thousands of new Florida licensees to the buyer’s agent concept over the years, encouraging them to increase their professionalism, public image and knowledge of best practices. Since 1989, the Buyer’s Broker has worked exclusively with buyers of Southwest Florida real estate, primarily in the Sarasota, Naples and Boca Grande area.
A longtime member of the Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council (REBAC), Tom holds the REBAC Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR) designation and was inducted into REBAC’s “Hall of Fame.” He is also a member of the National Association of Exclusive Buyer Agents (NAEBA).
He lives on the Sarasota Bayfront, and is an avid open-water swimmer, boater, diver and fisherman, and recently summited Mt. Kilimanjaro, “the Roof of Africa,” at 19,340 feet. Active in the Sarasota community, Tom worked with SCOPE to launch the Sarasota Institute for the Ages (SIA).
